Knowledge & Wisdom

The purpose of a torch is to show you the path. If your torch is the best in the whole world, it can show you the path in a precise manner. However, in no case is your torch going to drag you towards your destination.

It is you who will have to walk the path to reach the destination!

Millions of books, billions of videos & a lot of influencers are out there contributing to the growth and development of humankind. Still, the number of stressed and disturbed people are increasing and not decreasing.

Because we have mistaken the resources, the books, videos & the people that are contributing as the ones who are going to do the things for us. Actually, they are playing the role of a torch in our lives. They are the ones who will guide us and show us the way about what can be done and what can’t be done.

At the end of the day, it is up to us whether we implement it or not.

Now what happens is, we learn and understand things very quickly but when it comes to implementation, experimenting & experiencing those things we do not do it.

What is the difference between knowledge & wisdom?

I’m sure you might have heard or read this somewhere before,

“The people who are hardest to love are the ones who need it the most”

How often do we act in accordance with it? How many times do you act with love towards the difficult people in your life?

If you haven’t heard of this one, there might be some others which you speak very regularly but implement very rarely. Like,

  • Be in the present
  • Honesty is the best policy
  • Be true to yourself

…….and many more!

That is the difference between knowledge and wisdom, the action! When you know something by reading or listening, it is knowledge. Whereas, when you can put that knowledge into implementation in your day to day life, it is wisdom.

Most people remain stuck on the knowledge part because when you learn something, you feel as if you have achieved something & it feels really good. We all like the feeling of “feeling good”, we get attached to that feeling and when it comes to moving from Knowledge to Wisdom, we have to step out of our comfort zone.

Moving from knowledge to wisdom requires a person to face their fears, insecurities, egos, triggers, patterns and all the things that they were living with “COMFORTABLY”. Most people choose not to take that journey and stay in that comfort zone.

It is very necessary and important to take this journey in order to grow in life & to make this journey better carry compassion with yourself.

Nothing wrong with knowledge, because it is the gateway to wisdom. In fact, without gaining knowledge it is impossible to take action. However, it is very crucial to differentiate between what part inside you is knowledge and what part inside you is wisdom.

  • when you have mistaken your wisdom for your knowledge you are sacrificing your self-value; &
  • when you have mistaken your knowledge for your wisdom you are fooling nobody but your own self.
